GEORGIA FOOTBALL: TOP 30 PLAYERS IN SCHOOL HISTORY
28 – Kevin Butler
“The stadium is worse than bonkers!”
Kickers never get the love they sometimes deserve, but when it comes to Kevin Butler he should receive all the Dawg nation’s praise.
One of Larry Munson’s most famous calls came as a result of Butler’s game-winning 60-yard field goal to beat No. 2 Clemson in 1984. Back in the day when Clemson was just as big of a rival for the Dawgs as Florida, Tennessee, and Auburn, this kick led the Bulldogs to one of their biggest upsets in school history.
He holds the UGA record for longest field goal, highest percentage of field goals made 50 yards or more in a career (52.4%) and most field goals over 50 yards in a career (11), while also holding the NCAA record for most game kicking two or more field goals in a career (27).
Named as an All-American in 1984, he was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame in 2001.
