27 – Lindsay Scott

“Run, Lindsay!”

Some of the most famous words to ever come out of legendary announcer Larry Munson’s mouth came as a result of Lindsay Scott saving Georgia’s 1980 undefeated season on a late touchdown to beat Florida. That was his only touchdown all season. Scott compiled 131 catches for 2098 yards in his four-year career in Athens.

Scott, along with the rest of the 1980 team, may live in the shadow of Herschel Walker, but the Dawgs would have never won the national title or even the SEC had it not been for his speed. Walk into any bar in the state of Georgia and yell “run Lindsay” and visions of Scott’s catch and run will fill the air.

He was drafted with the 13th overall selection in the 1982 NFL Draft by the New Orleans Saints, spending three years with the team. He will always be remembered as one of the core members of Georgia’s last title team.
