24 – Garrison Hearst

Hearst had one of the all-time greatest seasons for a running back in 1992. He led the nation in rushing touchdowns (19 – SEC record in a season), along with leading the SEC in rushing yards, yards per attempt, yards from scrimmage and touchdowns from scrimmage. He ended his three-year career with All-American, Doak Walker Award, and SEC Player of the Year honors.

Much is made of his junior season, but Hearst also put up solid number in his first two seasons (1,685 yards, 14 touchdowns, 5.35 yards per rush). His workload at times compared to Herschel’s, and his bruising runs mirrored Walker’s legend.

His big, muscular stature made opposing tacklers fear him. In a long history of great Georgia backs, Hearst was absolutely one of the most bruising speedsters to ever grace the field for the Dawgs.

He was third in the Heisman voting in 92’ and drafted third overall in the 1993 NFL Draft.
