23 – Thomas Davis

Long before Thomas Davis became the leader of the Carolina Panthers defense, he was making a name for himself in Athens.

Davis was not recruited heavily by all of the big name programs because of his smaller size. After redshirting his freshman year in 2001, he started four games on the 2002 SEC title team. His 2004 season, which was his last, he was named first team All-SEC and as an All-American after posting 81 total tackles, three sacks, five tackles for loss, and an interception.

His emotional play on the field is something that other players were drawn too. Davis always played with a chip on his shoulder, and it led him to a stellar career between the hedges.

Taken 14th overall by the Panthers in the 2005 NFL Draft, he continues to play with the same passion and leadership he displayed as a Dawg.
