If tensions were not high enough for Georgia to get a signature from Jacob Eason, they surely will be now.

According to Jeff Sentell from DawgNation, Bailey Hockman de-committed from UGA Monday morning via Twitter. He was the first 2017-commit for the Bulldogs and is rated as a four-star prospect (No. 3 pro-style passer in the class). Although he has decided to open up his recruitment, he has not counted UGA out completely.

Hockman is a junior at metro-Atlanta powerhouse McEachern High School in Powder Springs. In his first season as a starter in 2014, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution and the Associated Press recognized him as a Georgia All-State selection. That same year he led his team to a 10-4 record and a Class AAAAAA state semi-final appearance.

This season was much of the same for Hockman. His Indians were once again ranked as one of the top teams in the state throughout the entire year. His team finished 10-2, losing in the second round of the playoffs.

2016 UGA-commit Julian Rochester and Hockman are two of only 59 players in the storied history of their high school to be selected to the All-State team.

The play-caller has a flurry of college offers from some big-time programs including Georgia, Florida State, North Carolina, Alabama, Auburn and Miami. Having committed to play for Mark Richt at Georgia, it is possible that Hockman could venture down to Coral Cables for a visit since Richt’s coaching move. But, 247Sports thinks the current players in the sweepstakes for his talents are Florida State, North Carolina and the Bulldogs.

The most important fact to note with recruits, especially ones that are a year away from signing day is that so many things can change. Nothing is set in stone until the player signs his name on the dotted lines. Bulldog-fans remember what happened in 2013 when Ole Miss stole some big name recruits on signing day, including former Georgia-commit Laremy Tunsil.
