Kelly is a 6-foot-3, 205-pound dual-threat quarterback from Alpharetta, Georgia. He becomes the 21st commitment for Georgia’s 2016 recruiting class.
The senior is ranked as a 3-star prospect by 247 sports and participated in the GHSA North-South Allstar Game in January.

With the addition of Kelly, Georgia indirectly acknowledges last season’s lack of depth at the quarterback position, which resulted in the Bulldogs struggling more on offense than was expected of them.
Kirby Smart and new offensive coordinator Jim Chaney now have not one but two 2016 quarterbacks to add to their depth chart and, furthermore, compete for the starting position.
Although Kelly could make the quarterback competition more interesting, he won’t have the chance to add any drama to the mix until he enrolls later this summer.

For now, it seems like a relatively even battle between Greyson Lambert, Brice Ramsey, and Jacob Eason, but Saturday only marks the third practice of spring camp. As the G-Day game draws closer, there will likely be more distinct lines drawn between the quarterbacks as Smart and Chaney try to decide who will be the starting quarterbacks for the Black and Red squads.
The G-Day game will be held on April 16 with kickoff scheduled for 4 p.m.. Gates open at 1 p.m. Coach Smart has requested a sell out crowd to begin this new era of Georgia Football.
