Why Leonard Floyd could be better in the NFL than at UGA

Leonard Floyd was one of the stars on defense every year he was at UGA, but he could be better in the NFL.

Leonard Floyd is a freak. Let’s just get that out of the way. During his three seasons at UGA, Floyd led the Bulldogs in sacks each year.

Despite this fact, a lot of people thought that Floyd didn’t completely fulfill his potential at UGA. He was inconsistent, but when he was at his best, he was a terror to opposing backfields. He finished his UGA career with 182 total tackles with 26.5 tackles for loss and 17 sacks. Floyd obviously made plays in college but showed flashes of being even better. Potential is the key word NFL Draft analysts use to describe him.

Floyd measured in at the NFL Combine at 6-6, 244 pounds. He also showed off his speed as he ran a 4.6 in the 40-yard dash. Floyd needs to beef up and gain some weight as he has a lanky frame.

However, Floyd has a lot of strengths as well. Floyd has a nose for the football. He was seen all over the field as he has a ridiculous motor to go along with his notable athleticism and length.

He’s also a very versatile player that played in different spots on Georgia’s defense. At times, he played at inside linebacker and with his hand on the ground. His primary position though is outside linebacker.

Floyd is a terror rushing the passer off the edge and getting penetration and tackling ball carriers in the backfield. Also, his athleticism and speed allows him to play well in coverage.
