North Carolina had a great season last year as they went 11-3 and appeared in the ACC Championship Game. 2015’s starting quarterback Marquise Williams has graduated.

However, the Tar Heels aren’t too worried because of a guy named Mitch Trubisky. The 6-3, 220 lbs. junior from Mentor, Ohio, threw 47 times in 2015 and accumulated 555 yards and six touchdowns through the air according to ESPN.com.

North Carolina doesn’t expect any drop off at the quarterback position this year. Not only is Trubisky a much better passer than Williams, but also, like Williams, he can make plays with his feet as well (101 yards rushing and three scores). North Carolina head coach Larry Fedora is confident that Trubisky is the man to lead his team.

“I think he’s excited for the opportunity to be the leader of this offense, leader of this team. I’ll be surprised if he doesn’t have a great spring and show some things because he has grown tremendously. He knows the offense, he’s a good leader and he’s just what we’re looking for at quarterback in this system,” said Fedora according to ESPN.com.

Clemson and FSU are looked at as the favorites to win the Atlantic Coast Conference this year. Don’t count out the Heels though, they have a lot of talent and high hopes that Trubisky can lead them to glory.
