Tennessee was arguably the best team in the SEC East in 2015. They just didn’t play like it all the time. The Volunteers went 9-4 on the season with three of their four losses coming before early October.

They almost beat eventual Big 12 Champion and CFB Playoff bound Oklahoma in OT, lost by a point to SEC East Champion Florida and were the only team to keep it close with the National Champion Alabama Crimson Tide, but they won every game since including  a 45-6 domination of #13 Northwestern in the Outback Bowl.

A big reason for their success was having Josh Dobbs at quarterback. Dobbs is one of the best athletes in the conference, and the 6-3, 207 pound senior from Alpharetta, Ga., is also one of the best dual-threat quarterbacks in the nation.

Last season, Dobbs passed for 2,291 yards and fifteen touchdowns. He also added 671 yards and eleven touchdowns on the ground according to ESPN.com.

Although he can be inconsistent at times, Dobbs is a dangerous and explosive playmaker. He absolutely killed Georgia last year in Knoxville, Tenn., and had his best game statistically that season (312 yards through the air and 118 yards on the ground). He was the main reason the Vols came back from a 21-3 deficit to defeat the Dawgs in a game UGA should have won. It will be paramount to stop or at least limit Dobbs in this year’s matchup in Athens.
