player. 47. . Wide Receiver. New England Patriots. Malcolm Mitchell. 2

Malcolm Mitchell had to be thrilled to hear his name called as the 14th pick of the fourth round by the Patriots. You have to absolutely love this pick from a neutral standpoint.

Mitchell was probably one of the most underrated receivers every year he played SEC football. Last season, he led them in receiving with 865 yards and five touchdowns, which was his best individual year at Georgia. He did all this despite Georgia having mediocre QB play (at best) in 2015. His stats were lower earlier in his career as he was nagged by injuries.

Mitchell has very good quickness and great speed (4.45 seconds in the 40-yard dash.) He’s a very good route runner and possesses a good pair of hands. He was often the go-to guy in the receiving game while he was at UGA. Mitchell provides a safety net for QBs to throw to but also has enough speed and shiftiness to be a threat to take it the distance.

Bill Belichick has been known as a guy that can get the best out of guys that are kind of under the radar especially receivers (see Julian Edelman and Danny Amendola). This will most likely be seen in the future as a steal by the Patriots. They got a guy that can help their offense and provide another pair of good hands for Tom Brady to throw to.
