3. RB Leonard Fournette – LSU

Leonard Fournette was the Heisman favorite for much of the season last year before he ran into Alabama’s stiff run defense. We don’t want to mention that game.

However, the New Orleans native still had an excellent season in 2015. Fournette should again be one of the biggest contenders to lift the trophy this year.

Fournette is not new to stardom as he was the top player in the country coming out of high school and lauded as the next Adrian Peterson. Fournette looks like he’ll be a top pick in 2017 as well.

In 2015, Fournette rushed for almost 2,000 yards and 22 touchdowns with a 6.5 average yards per carry. He also had 253 yards receiving and an additional score. His 2015 campaign was highlighted by a 244 yard rushing performance against Syracuse and a 212 yard (rushing) and four touchdown outing against Texas Tech in LSU’s bowl game.

After an up and down freshman campaign, his Syracuse game in 2015 was eye-opening, and this is when the country really new this kid was legit.

Fournette is one of the favorites to win the sport’s most coveted award at the end of the season. He’s got a good shot to do just that. He will definitely be given ample opportunity in Les Miles’ run-heavy offensive attack. Whatever happens, Fournette is truly a special player that is going to be a star for years to come.
