Early 2016 Heisman Trophy Picks: Where does Chubb fit in?
By Jay Hawkins
1. QB Deshaun Watson – Clemson
Deshaun Watson is the best quarterback in college football. It’s not even close. Most people knew how good Watson was, but he certainly let everyone know how good when he put on a show against Alabama in the CFB Playoff National Championship.
Although Watson’s Clemson Tigers ultimately fell to the Crimson Tide, he put on a Vince Young-like showing as Watson threw for 405 yards and four touchdowns with a 63% completion percentage. He also added 73 yards on the ground as well. Watson did all of this against a historically good Alabama Crimson Tide defense.
The 6-2, 205 pound Gainesville, Ga., native was the No. 1 quarterback coming out of high school and has the potential to be the No. 1 pick in the 2017 NFL Draft. Watson is the ultimate dual-threat quarterback. Last season, he threw for 4,104 yards and 35 touchdowns with a 67.8% completion percentage and added 1,105 yards on the ground and 12 more scores.

As aforementioned, Watson silenced all the doubters in the championship game. Watson is very cool under pressure and clutch.
He’s got a great arm, is an accurate passer and is athletic enough to make plays with his feet. He’s the perfect guy to build a team around. He’s got to be the favorite to win the Heisman.
There’s a whole lot of talent in college football, and that will be evident on the field this fall. There are multiple guys with the potential to win the Heisman Trophy. However, only one player in 2016 will be fortunate enough to do it and have his name be forever remembered as that of a Heisman winner.
