UGA football legend Herschel Walker has no doubt he can still kick it in the big leagues.

Herschel Walker is an absolute freak of nature. Let’s get that out of the way.

He is remembered as arguably the greatest running back in the history of college football, and one of the best (if not the best) college players ever. Walker is basically revered as a god in the state of Georgia, especially among UGA fans.

The living legend got himself back in the news this week when he told Omnisport that he could still play in the NFL,

“I don’t think I can. I know I can. In a third-down situation, I could help a team out today. I could do a few things and do it well,” said Walker.

Walker is 54 years old, but if anyone of that age could come back and play in the NFL, it would be Walker. After all, he has fought in the MMA in retirement and is eyeing a future return to fighting.

Walker had a ridiculous college career at UGA. As a true freshman in 1980, he rushed for over 1,616 yards and 15 touchdowns and led the Bulldogs to a national championship crown that season. He followed that up with rushing for 1,891 yards in his sophomore year and a 1982 season in which he won the Heisman Trophy.

Besides winning the Heisman, Walker stacked up a myriad of awards and honors including being named the SEC Player of the Year and consensus All-American in each season he played and  winning the 1982 Maxwell Award and the 1982 Walter Camp Player of the Year Award. He has truly done it all.

So can Walker play in the NFL today? He’s not a young guy anymore, but he is in amazing shape. After all, he does 1,500 push-ups and 3,500 sit-ups per day currently. That’s not the norm for most people that age or in general.

So, would I like to see Herschel back in the NFL? Heck, yeah. Do I think he could play in the league right now? I don’t know. Probably not, but far be it from me to doubt the legend that is Herschel Walker.
