Greg Pyke had his appendix removed recently, according to reports.

The Athens Banner-Herald was the first to report the news, then it was confirmed by The Telegraph. Pyke underwent the surgery on Monday in order to treat appendicitis. Though Georgia has not officially confirmed the reports, the outlets did indicate that Pyke should be ready to play in the Bulldogs’ season opener.
They will need him. Pyke is one of Georgia’s few experienced offensive linemen. He’s played in 27 games with 23 starts, and although he has exclusively played at guard in the past, Pyke got in some work at tackle during spring practice.

Pyke’s experience and increasing versatility make him a necessity on a young line. He, Brandon Kublanow and Tyler Catalina are the only linemen entering 2016 with considerable experience.
He recently got a good bit of attention from SEC reporters, as he was named to the All-SEC first team last week during SEC Media Days.
Last season, Georgia rushed for 2,498 yards. The Bulldogs have talented players to carry the ball, but the running game starts at the line. The offensive line only gave up 15 sacks, too. Pyke’s contributions can’t be overlooked.
The encouraging thing is he shouldn’t miss any games, and it sounds like he’ll return to practice soon. Bulldog Nation certainly hopes so.
