David Pollack removed from ESPN’s Thursday night football broadcasts

David Pollack is a Georgia football legend, and for the last several years he’s carved out a niche for himself at ESPN. His role with the company is now set to change.

Pollack’s role with the company is set to change this upcoming season. The former Bulldog linebacker signed a multi-year extension with ESPN, the company announced Wednesday. ESPN announced that Pollack will no longer be featured on its Thursday night broadcasts of games.

He’s still set to appear on one of ESPN’s most popular programs, the weekly College GameDay which airs on Saturday mornings during football season, on which Pollack has been featured since 2011. Pollack will also have a bigger role on College Football Live, which airs throughout the week.

In addition to those roles, Pollack is set to be featured more on a number of various studio programs.

“David’s analysis, insights and, most importantly, his opinions have elevated him to a top college football analyst,” ESPN senior coordinating producer Lee Fitting said. “Having him on our studio programming, nearly on a daily basis throughout the season, maximizes his strengths and makes ESPN’s college football coverage better.”

Pollack served as an analyst on Thursday nights the last few years. He worked with play-by-play announce Joe Tessitore and Jesse Palmer. He’d become a fan favorite, offering strong insight throughout each broadcast.

ESPN is undergoing a number of shakeups this year, though, so this news isn’t exactly shocking. Dave Flemming will move over from the Friday night broadcast to replace Tessitore, who will provide play-by-play for Saturday night games on ESPN. Tessitore will replace the departed Brad Nessler, who now works for CBS.

Georgia fans will miss Pollack on the call for Thursday games, but it’s good to know he’ll remain on the air and in a greater capacity.
