Former Bulldogs on the Move with New NFL Contracts
By Andrew Honea
Arthur Lynch, Marlon Brown, and Brandon Boykin all saw success in Athens at the college ranks, but they will now look to translate that success to the next level as they continue their NFL careers in new cities.
Professional football player is not a career that all college stars can turn into a reality. Three former Bulldogs, however, will make another stop on the way to turning that dream into a reality.
Arthur Lynch, Marlon Brown, and Brandon Boykin are still looking for that perfect fit in the NFL, but hope that the search is now over. The three Georgia alums all signed new contracts with new NFL squads this week.
Arthur Lynch, who last played for Georgia during the 2013 season, has found a new home with the Atlanta Falcons. Lynch found much success in Athens, establishing himself as a dangerous target for former quarterback Aaron Murray.
Unfortunately, he hasn’t found the same success in the NFL just yet, however that could change with a simple change of scenery. Coming off of a senior season that Lynch was selected as an AP All-SEC first teamer, he was selected in the fifth round of the 2014 NFL draft by the Miami Dolphins. Since being drafted by Miami, Lynch was placed on injured reserve which led to temporary practice squad contracts with the New York Jets and Denver Broncos.
2012 Georgia graduate Marlon Brown has also found a new home with the Denver Broncos. During his three seasons in Baltimore, Brown played in 15 games, catching 87 passes for 891 yards. Brown also caught seven touchdowns during that time, however, all of them came during his rookie campaign in 2013.

Probably the most explosive of the Georgia trio, Brandon Boykin has also inked a new NFL deal. Boykin, who was originally drafted in the fourth round of the 2012 NFL draft, is headed to the Windy City to play defensive back for Chicago Bears. Although Boykin showed the ability to excel on both sides of the ball at Georgia, he has started only seven games during his first four NFL seasons. Boykin, the UGA career leader in kick return yards, has seen time with the Steelers, Eagles and Panthers.
It is yet to be seen whether all of these players will make an impact for their current teams, however it should not be a surprise to anyone that they are all being given another chance. Georgia has been known to produce NFL products on a yearly basis, so the fact that these three talented athletes are still making things happen is no surprise. Despite all of the uncertainties that come with an NFL pre-season, these three Georgia products are likely to give their new respective coaches something to think about when trimming their team down to their final rosters.
