Georgia really needs to get the commitment of Trevor Lawrence.

According to a Dawg Nation piece a few weeks ago, Lawrence is on the verge of committing in a few days – around August 1 to be exact. It’s down to UGA and Clemson to get the services of the blue-chip quarterback.

Many (including myself) thought that Tennessee would be the school to beat to get his signature considering Lawrence’s parents are both UT grads. But Georgia and Clemson are the two finalists, and both provide compelling destinations for the signal-caller.

Both schools are solid academic institutions, both have very competitive football teams and both will already have talent at the quarterback position.

However that doesn’t seem to faze Lawrence in the slightest,

“If I do what I should, I can compete with anybody in the country to play quarterback,” Lawrence told Dawgnation.com. “I try not to worry about it but it does concern me sometimes. Both places have great quarterbacks ahead of me. Clemson has two in the same grade and Georgia has Jacob Eason and Jake Fromm. They are all good players. It will be hard wherever I go. It will be a struggle to compete, but I think I’ll be ready for it.”

The two schools seem to be neck-and-neck in terms of positives, but Lawrence says it will come down to where he feels most comfortable. The 6-6, 198 pound Lawrence will be a huge addition to whichever school he chooses.

He is a special player after all. The 5-star quarterback is rated as the top player at his position for the class of 2018 according to 247 Sports and is the No. 1 prospect from the state of Georgia.

He’s got a cannon for an arm and can make all the throws. I haven’t been this high on many prospects before. He is truly something special. Let’s hope that Lawrence decides to stay home and represent his state.
