The former Georgia running back will grace the field as the Washington Redskins take on the Atlanta Falcons in a preseason game at the Georgia Dome.
After Marshall’s senior year at UGA, he was taken by the Redskins in the seventh round of the 2016 NFL Draft. The 5-11, 212 pound rookie is expected to play significantly this evening.
The former 5-star recruit shined in his freshman year at UGA behind now NFL star Todd Gurley but was plagued by injuries throughout the rest of his career. A torn ACL against Tennessee in 2013 sidetracked the star running back, and he never seemed to fully recover while at Georgia.
However, Marshall skyrocketed up NFL Draft boards after performing handsomely at the NFL Combine. Marshall’s 4.31 second 40 yard dash was the top time at the Combine. The blistering speed turned heads at the elite scouting event, and allowed Marshall to gain traction with NFL teams.
Now, Marshall is locked in an intense battle to gain playing time for the 2016 season. According to CSN Mid-Atlantic, Marshall is even rumored to have a shot at the backup running back position behind established first string running back Matt Jones.

Surely, Marshall hopes this trip to the Georgia Dome will produce a better result than his last game at the Atlanta venue. His freshman year, Georgia famously fell to the eventual National Champion Alabama Crimson Tide in the 2012 SEC Championship Game in a heartbreaking 32-28 loss.
However, this game gives Marshall the opportunity to write a different story than his college years. Despite all the injuries and heartbreak that Marshall suffered over his collegiate career, a good showing during this preseason could confirm his spot on an NFL roster, and allow him a fresh start.
Marshall and the Redskins take on Atlanta at 7 pm.
