Yes, 2017 UGA quarterback commit Jake Fromm was named to the 2016 American Family Insurance ALL-USA Preseason Football Team today. The team that USA Today releases every year is a list of the top high school football players at each position in the country.

Last season, both Isaac Nauta and Jacob Eason were named to the team in the 2015 offseason. It’s definitely a big honor in other words.

Fromm is definitely deserving of this distinction as the 6-2, 224 pound signal-caller is rated as a 4-star prospect by 247 Sports and the No. 5 player in the state of Georgia for 2017.

Last season, the Warner Robbins, Ga., native threw for 4,099 yards and 36 touchdowns with only six interceptions. He completed nearly 60% of his passes and averaged 315.3 yards passing per game.

Fromm has an absolute cannon for an arm and is also accurate with his passes. He is poised in the pocket and fits the typical talented pocket passer mold that Georgia has been known to go after.

Fromm also made the 2016 MaxPreps High School Football All-American team earlier this summer. Fromm is obviously über talented and should push Jacob Eason for playing time as soon as he gets on campus next year.

Another interesting name on the USA Today preseason team was honorable mention and 2018’s top quarterback Trevor Lawrence, who is down to Georgia and Clemson and should make a commitment decision at some point during this month.

Overall, Fromm being named to this prestigious list was a high honor. He is definitely deserving of this distinction and will undoubtably raise the level of talent in Georgia’s backfield in 2017.
