2016 Georgia Football game-by-game previews and predictions
By Jay Hawkins
Sep. 10 vs. Nicholls State
Players to Watch: QB Tuskani Figaro, LB Hezekiah White, WR C.J. Bates
Preview: This game is the cupcake that Georgia desperately needs. They can relax a little bit after a tough North Carolina matchup the previous week and can use this game to answer any questions that remain, particularly related to the quarterback position.
Their opponent Nicholls State of Thibodaux, La., is a proud member of the Southland Conference of the FCS. The Colonels are coming off a disappointing 2015 season during which they finished 3-8. (They lost 48-0 to lowly Louisiana-Monroe if that tells you anything).
Nicholls State is not particularly good (as a whole) on offense or defense statistically. However, they do boast the best passing defense in their conference, and quarterback Tuskani Figaro is tenth (456 rushing, 925 passing) in the Southland in total offense. Linebacker Hezekiah White is probably the best player on this team as he led the Colonels on defense last season with 96 tackles, 9.5 tackles for loss and 1.5 sacks.
Bottom Line: This game will not even be a challenge for UGA. It will certainly serve as a good break between North Carolina and their first SEC game on the road against Missouri the next week. It will serve as a game to get more experience for younger players and work out any QB issues that remain.
Prediction: Georgia 45-Nicholls State 3
