Players to Watch: DE Charles Harris, MLB Michael Scherer, TE Sean Culkin

Preview: Missouri took a big step back last season from their success in 2013-2014 when they went to back-to-back SEC Championships. They went 5-7 on the year in 2015, and head coach Gary Pinkel had to step down due to health concerns.

The biggest reason they had such a rough season last year was the lack of production from their offense. New head coach and former defensive coordinator Barry Odom will have to shore up this inept unit if he hopes to have any success in 2016.

The defense, on the other hand, is championship worthy. The Tigers boasted the second best defense in the SEC last year (behind only Alabama) and the sixth-best stop unit in the nation.

The defense is led by an outstanding defensive line led by junior defensive end Charles Harris, who had a phenomenal 2015 in which he was named to the Second Team All-SEC Team and finished the season with the most tackles for loss of anyone in the SEC with 18.5, 56 tackles and seven sacks. Middle linebacker Michael Scherer is the team’s top returning tackler with 93 stops in 2015. They return six other starters on this star-studded defense.

Bottom Line: This game should be a tight defensive affair just like it was in 2015 in Athens (UGA 9-6 final score). This matchup will be a night game (7:30 PM ET on the SECN) in what can be a very tough environment in Colombia, Mo. This game should be a stiff challenge to whoever is quarterback particularly if it is freshman phenom Jacob Eason. The Tiger defense will cause problems for anyone and will definitely put pressure on the Georgia offense.

Thankfully, Missouri’s offense is beyond awful and won’t be able to capitalize. Georgia will pull away late.

Prediction: Georgia 24-Missouri 13
