Nick Chubb has been selected to the group 16 for ’16 Heisman Trophy candidates, according to writer Chase Goodbread for 24/7 Sports and NFL.com.
Chubb is currently ranked at number 10 on the list as the fifth overall running back. He is currently ranked behind running backs: Leonard Fournette LSU, Christian McCaffrey Stanford, Dalvin Cook FSU, and Samaje Perine OU.
Chubb was very well in the Heisman conversation last year until he tore his ACL in week six against Tennessee. Up until his injury he had rushed 92 Attempts for 747 yards, averaging 8.1 yards per carry and scored 8 touchdowns (7 rushing 1 receiving). With those types of numbers halfway through the season one can only imagine what his final tally would have been.
After much rehabbing and time to rest during the off-season he will be making his long awaited return against North Carolina Saturday Sept. 3. There are questions circulating if Chubb will be 100 percent when he comes back, but he is not worried one bit.
“It’s going to be something to see. I have been working hard every day,” says Chubb, “I am going to be back for the opening game.”
Chubb and the Bulldogs will be meeting in Atlanta at the Georgia Dome. The opening kickoff will be at 5:30 p.m. For more news on Georgia Athletics subscribe to the Dawn of the Dawg email list and follow us on Twitter @DawnOfTheDawg and Facebook /dawnofthedawgFS/
