Bulldogs who need to improve in Week 3
Georgia did not look good in their game against Nicholls State on Saturday.

Normally, I would mention four players who were Georgia’s MVP’s for a game. But after a 26-24 struggle-fest against Nicholls State, more attention should go to those who need improvement. Here are four that stood out the most.
Michael Chigbu
The sophomore wide receiver caught two passes, but he dropped two close to the end zone. Georgia’s quarterbacks need confidence and dropping passes isn’t going to help with that.
This is especially concerning because Georgia still needs a receiver to step up besides Isaiah McKenzie and Terry Godwin.
Offensive Line
They had a rough time on Saturday. Georgia’s run game was held to 167 yards on 39 carries. Nick Chubb had only 80 yards rushing while fellow running back Brian Herrien had 47.
Nicholls State loaded the box all afternoon, but Georgia is going to face better front sevens this season. Until more receiving threats appear, the Bulldogs are going to rely on the running game.

If the offensive line can’t block for them, the offense will have a hard time moving the ball for the rest of the year.
Jim Chaney
The offensive line struggled but part of that is because of a lack of variety in formations and play-calling by UGA offensive coordinator Jim Chaney.
First down passes and spread formations were a rarity, despite Jacob Eason having a pretty solid day (11-of-20 for 204 yards).
People may give Chaney a pass against Nicholls State. Against an inferior opponent, he may have tried to toughen up his offensive line and tight ends.
We know Chaney isn’t opposed to running spread-type offenses; he pioneered that style 16 years ago after all. So clearly, he is not just stuck in his ways when he keeps the offense playing tight formations.
But if that’s not the case, he will need to spice up the offense. Faster, bigger and more talented squads will not be able to load the box to contain Georgia’s running game if UGA opens up their offense especially in the passing game.
Georgia had other players that need to improve heading into next week, but these guys stood out. Georgia needs to get their ducks in a row if they hope to have even a good season this year.
