2. The Series Lead over Auburn

Last year Georgia finally regained the series lead over Auburn. Beginning in 2006, the Bulldogs began a dominant streak against the Tigers to take the lead in the Deep South’s Oldest Rivalry. Since the big upset win in 2006, Georgia is 9-2 against the Tigers.

But after Georgia started the year 5-4, the Bulldogs were double-digit underdogs to the 7-2 Tigers. Georgia was supposed to lose the lead in the series and the rivalry was supposed to go back to a tie.

However, Georgia’s defense made sure that did not happen. Auburn did not get a first down in the second half and Maurice Smith opened the third quarter with a game tying pick-six. Rodrigo Blankenship added a couple of field goals to give Georgia a two-game lead over the Auburn Tigers.
