What Georgia football needs to accomplish in the next five years

Make the playoffs and win a National Title

Rome wasn’t built-in a day, so a dynasty in Athens likely won’t be built in one season, let alone five. It’s just asking too much for Georgia football to win three or more National titles in the next five years. But they can win one, maybe two, and they can certainly make the playoffs three or four times.

If they accomplish the first goal and take over the SEC East, they’ll be competing for SEC Championship games. Win that and in all likelihood the Bulldogs will be in the playoffs. But with a 12-0 regular season and a loss in the SEC Championship game, a playoff berth is still possible.

But if Georgia isn’t making the playoffs, it shows that the program is still stagnant. The Bulldog Nation isn’t going to tolerate stagnant. Smart might not last five years if he can’t break that so it is important that Georgia makes the playoffs at least once. And as for the rest of the time…
