A high profile recruit decommits from UGA:

Max Wray, one of the top offensive tackles in the 2018 class decommited from the Georgia Bulldogs on Friday. Dawgnation and several other sources reported the decommitment but there has been no word from Wray himself. He had just visited Alabama and Clemson with his younger brother and several 247 sports sources are saying that they believe he will end up at one of those schools instead of Georgia:

This is a difficult loss for Georgia, Wray was portrayed as a potential leader for the 2018 class by Dawgnation’s Jeff Sentell in a recent piece. He stated that Georgia was his dream school but something seems to have changed in the past week. Some have suggested that the depth of tackles added in 2017 put him off but it might have just been the allure of going to a program like Bama. Say what you want about Nick Saban, its tough to say no to him.

Georgia has to move on now after taking a rare hit in the recruiting world. Since Kirby Smart has arrived, UGA has won a lot more of these battles then they have lost, but with just 2 commitments for 2018, the staff really has their work cut out for them now.

Wide Receiver Riley Ridley arrested:

In another disappointing development, Freshman wide receiver Riley Ridley was arrested on Saturday night for marijuana possession. He was booked for possession of less than 1 ounce of marijuana and released on a $1,000 bond.

It’s disappointing to see something like this with a player many are expecting much from in 2017. Despite injuries, Ridley really flashed an ability to be a go to receiver that Jacob Eason needs next year. Time will tell what punishment the University lays down, but the student handbook suggests a 1 game ban for a 1st offence. That would mean he would miss the Season opener against Appalachian State.

Georgia can ill afford any more of these incidents with so much expected of them this upcoming season.

UGA gets #2 seed for NIT:

So they missed out on the NCAA tournament, unsurprisingly. But the Georgia Bulldogs did get a 32 seed for the NIT. Georgia will play Belmont on Wednesday at 7pm in the first round and have a matchup looming against rival Georgia Tech in round 2.

Check out the official NIT bracket from the NCAA website here.

Trenton Thompson seems to be on the mend:

Ending on a high, UGA defensive tackle Trenton Thompson recently returned to twitter this week. While we still don’t know anything about his medical condition or when he will return, dawg fans can feel better seeing Thompson interact with fans again:

While nobody is expecting Thompson to return to school anytime soon, we can hope this shows that he’s on the mend. Get well soon big man!
