2. Garrison Hearst

Georgia had many great running backs in the years after Herschel Walker like Lars Tate, Tim Worley and Rodney Hampton. But the best of the bunch was clearly Garrison Hearst. From 1990-to-1992, Hearst accumulated 3,232 yards, which is currently fourth in school history. Hearst scored 33 touchdowns for Ray Goff’s Bulldogs which is also fourth in school history.

His time in Athens ended after his junior year when he decided to go to the NFL. In 1992, Hearst finished third in the Heisman Trophy voting and he won the Doak Walker Award. His 19 touchdowns that year is a school record and his 1,547 rushing yards is tied for fourth place in school history with Nick Chubb.

As a freshman in 1990, Hearst split carries with Larry Ware, but he still had 717 yards with five touchdowns to lead the team. He continued to split carries with Ware in 1991, but that year he rushed for 968 yards with nine touchdowns.

Only two players in school history have led Georgia in rushing for three consecutive seasons. Garrison Hearst and Herschel Walker are those two players. It’s difficult to not put him at number one on this list.
