4. Andre Hastings

Earlier we talked about how prior to the Ray Goff era, the wide receiver position at Georgia barely ever had many true stars. But since Ray Goff became head coach in 1989 Georgia always seems to have great receivers.

That chain begins right here with Andre Hastings who played at Georgia from 1990-to-1992. Hastings career began with him catching passes from Greg Talley, that season he caught 24 passes for 333 yards with three touchdowns. He also returned 15 kickoffs for 422 yards with a touchdown

His next year was spent with a much better quarterback in Eric Zeier. He had 48 receptions that year for a team leading 683 yards with five touchdowns. Hastings added 380 yards on 14 kickoffs.

Hastings last year in Athens was Georgia’s 10-2 season in 1992. While Garrison Hearst stole the show that year with his school records and Doak Walker Award, Hastings had the best season for a receiver in UGA history. He broke school records in pass receptions with 52 and receiving yards with 860. He also had five touchdowns that season.

Hastings left Georgia with 1,876 yards which at the time was second in school history behind Lindsay Scott. He added 124 receptions with 13 touchdowns. He also had 1,096 kickoff return yards with a touchdown.
