Trenton Thompson was on the sideline for the Georgia Football team on the first day of Spring training.

Dawgnation.com had a good post this morning with a full round up of what happened during the first day of Spring training. There are several interesting insights for the Georgia Football team but one stands out the most to me. Seeing DT Trenton Thompson back with the team was a pretty huge piece of news. According to reporter Seth Emerson:
"Thompson and Roquan Smith, who is out with a pectoral muscle injury, were running on the side. Thompson remains with the team though he’s not in class this semester"
The player himself also tweeted out this picture yesterday alongside Smith:
This is the latest piece of good news regarding Thompson who withdrew from classes just over three weeks ago after a medial emergency. There was real fear when this happened that he could be away from the program for a very long time. While fans should not be hoping for a sudden return after what was very clearly a serious issue, they can feel a bit more secure about him returning to the team.

Even though he’s not going to classes or full practices, the fact that he continues to remain with the team is a great sign. It’s should also encourage fans that the school and coaches seem committed to doing what it right for the player. Giving him the opportunity to really recover from what happened alongside his football family seems to be a positive for Trenton. Hopefully he continues to get better and we see him on the practice field again this summer.
