1. 2012 SEC Championship Game vs. Alabama

More from Dawn of the Dawg

You knew it was coming. You know why. It’s still a fairly fresh wound.

But for those of you who do not know. Georgia and Alabama entered the 2012 SEC Championship game both 11-1 overall and 7-1 in the SEC. They were also ranked no. 3 and no. 2 respectively. The winner not only was going to be crowned SEC Champions, but they would also go on to the BCS National Championship Game to play undefeated no. 1 Notre Dame.

The Bulldogs lost a heart-breaker when Aaron Murray’s pass was deflected at the line of scrimmage and caught by an off-balance Chris Conley who fell to the ground as time expired.

Alabama win the game and went on to demolish Notre Dame leaving no doubts in the minds of Georgia fans that they would have done the same to the Fighting Irish. because of this, many refer to that SEC Championship Game as the real National Championship game of the 2012 season.
