Kirby Smart is going into his second year as head coach for Georgia football. If history is any indication, 2017 could be a successful year for Smart and the Bulldogs

History is an interesting subject because of how it always seems to repeat itself. Whether or not the patterns actually exist or not, They are still what people who study history look for.

Sports history is no different. That’s why it’s fun and insightful to look back at history to get an idea of what to expect in the future.

Today we’re going to look at the second year teams of several head coaches in Georgia football history to get an idea of what expectations fans should have of Kirby Smart’s second year in Athens.

We’ll also look at some of the other years early in a head coaches tenure to see how each team built off of their first two seasons with a new head coach.
