What Recruits were in Athens.
Several recruits were in Athens this week visiting the school, here are some of the highlights:
Colquitt is another big tackle that Sam Pittman has set his sights on. Despite still being a Sophomore, his 247sports page says that he’s already 6-6 and 295 lbs. That’s a pretty big guy for someone who is still only 16! 2019 is still a long way away and he’s not on the list of ‘super prospects’ so there’s still a lot we don’t know about him, but he’s certainly one to keep an eye out for.
Another 2019 talent, Chambers could either be a big bruising running back or a linebacker at the next level. He’s a highly talented prospect and already has interest from programs like Stanford and Michigan as well as the Dawgs. He told Rusty Mansell and 247sports that he was impressed by the intensity of the practices at UGA and that he sees himself as an OLB at the next level. He will likely be a prospect you hear a lot about in the future.
Two more Marietta prospects were in Athens this weekend. Older brother Azeez is the one to think about right now with 2020 still a very long way away. Azeez made a big impact at the opening last weekend and a lot of commentators expect him to take a big jump in the rankings. Pass rushers are always something for interest to Kirby Smart so he could well end up as a priority going forward.
Marietta is going to get an increased focus from lots of programs over the next few years. 2020 Phenom Harrison Bailey is going to be playing QB there for the next 3 years so UGA is going to have to battle hard to win some battles at the school.
