The 2017 Georgia Football class was one of the strongest UGA has seen. Loaded with in state talent, Kirby Smart and co. recruited better than many expected. However 2018 seems like a very different year. After missing out on the nations #1 overall prospects, QB Trevor Lawrence, UGA has not had the same success yet for 2018.

6 of the top 10 players in Georgia already committed out of state in 2018. This will have to be a very different class if UGA is going to do well. Three of the top 10 players are quarterbacks and all of them committed elsewhere with Georgia already strong in this position. UGA is still in the mix for many in state players in 2018. However they are broadening their horizons a lot with less in state talent than 2017.

We’re going to take a quick look at some of the top level talents Georgia is heavily in the mix for. All of the players we’re looking at are strongly considering UGA and hopefully will make up the core of the 2018 class. Fans should not expect this class to hit the heights of 2017 and it will undoubtedly be smaller in size, likely under 20 players signed.

The main reason for this is that 2019 is looking like the deepest collection of in state talent Georgia has seen in years. UGA is expected to load up on players that year and so a smaller and lower rated class in 2018 is to be expected. It should also be remembered that a lot of the below players and many more will be at G-day on April 22nd. So fans that go, be sure to show them how special of a place Athens is!
