Tyreke Johnson, S, Florida

Johnson is an instinctive and talented defensive back. Listed as a safety, coaches are recruiting him to play as a corner where he could excel. Despite signing 4 cornerbacks in 2017, UGA does not yet have someone of his pedigree at that position. In that way, he’d be a terrific fit for the dawgs.

He has a very close relationship with Richard Lecounte III and has a bit of that ‘pied piper’ in him. He says that wherever he signs will get 5 or 6 other top level players who want to play with him. Other than UGA, all of his top schools are on the west coast and he told several reporters that if he chooses to stay close to home, UGA will be the pick.

If Smart and Mell Tucker can convince him to join the dawgs, he’ll be an excellent addition.  Georgia needs a genuine 5-star at that position going forward. His ability to bring along some other top players in a somewhat weak class also wouldn’t be a bad thing.
