Virginia Tech

The 2016 Hokies were a lot like the 2016 Dawgs in ways. They leaned heavily on a young defense. They also had a first year head coach in Justin Fuente who took over for a guy who had been head coach there for quite a while (Frank Beamer).

Beamer was very well respected  and loved by a lot of their fans . So Fuente stepped into a situation where he was made the head of a program with a recent history of success under a head coach that had been around for a minute.

I think the two teams would match up well. Georgia’s running game against VT’s defense could potentially create some very competitive games. These teams have met before with Georgia holding a 2-1 series lead. They last met in the 2006 Peach Bowl with Georgia winning 31 -24.

The main reason I want to see this one is a selfish one; that Virginia Tech entrance.  It’s one of the coolest in all of college football. When that first lick of “Enter Sandman” hits and the crowd starts jumping, it’s electric. Seeing that entrance live is one of the things I have on my college football bucket list, and a game in Blacksburg against the Dawgs would give me a great reason to go and be able to check it off.
