3. Pittsburgh Panthers
Here’s the grudge match I was talking about. Yes, I want the Pittsburgh Panthers for the Sugar Bowl losses in 1977 and 1982.
Those were two of the worst losses of the Vince Dooley era. Dooley was never all that good at winning bowl games in the first place, but the losses to Pittsburgh were only topped by the loss to Penn State (an opponent who would have been on my list prior to 2016).
Dooley’s Dawgs also lost to Pittsburgh in 1975 and tied them in 1973. Putting Georgia’s record against them to 0-3-1.

However, this wouldn’t be as big of a game as the others on this list. And out of the 15 teams we’ve mentioned this week, Pittsburgh is probably the weakest. The Panthers haven’t won more than eight games since 2009 and they have only average 7.24 wins since 2000. On paper, Georgia versus Pittsburgh looks like a squash match. And maybe it is, but like I said earlier, I hold grudges.
I could make a whole list of grudge matches: West Virginia, Boise State, Central Florida, Colorado, Boston College, etc. Pittsburgh would still be at the top of that list.
