2. Defense will slow down the run game

More from Dawn of the Dawg

A lot of stories have been published over the last couple of weeks about Kirby Smart being angry and disappointed in the defense. But I just don’t buy it. Yeah, I’m sure there have been some issues here and there and the Georgia offense probably isn’t the push over compared to the defense like it was last spring.

This is still one of the best defenses in the SEC and they lost almost no one besides Quincy Mauger and Maurice Smith. The front seven returns and adds even more depth. The defensive backfield is still going to be pretty good.

But it’s the front seven that’s going to make the game difficult for Georgia’s running backs. The offensive line, while probably better, is still being built. And that job isn’t going to be finished until the preseason.

As for this Saturday, Georgia’s front seven will probably be too strong for the offensive line. And that goes for both the red and black teams. Nick Chubb, Sony Michel, Brian Herrien and Elijah Holyfield will all have difficult times at the G-Day Game.
