The weekend ended with a very tough headline. 2017 UGA commitment DeAntne Demery was arrested at 1am on Sunday morning for assaulting his girlfriend after they had attended G-day. The reports that have been put out were pretty graphic and so later on Sunday, Georgia decided to release Demery from his letter of intent.

While information from the police has been put out there, more will likely follow in the coming weeks and months. That being said, UGA made the right decision to clearly show that the school has a zero tolerance policy towards physical and sexual violence in regards to its players.

Earlier that week, UGA welcomed Brenda Tracy who spoke to the players regarding sexual violence. It is therefore good to see that not only is this something that the team is proactively educating its players about, but that it will maintain this zero tolerance policy for incidents going forward.
