Georgia Bulldogs: Monday Morning Recap
What happened in the game?
Well, where to start! The game was actually a bit different then what many were expecting. For the past several weeks, Kirby Smart has been talking up his offensive line and complaining about his defense. But when it came to this scrimmage, the reverse was certainly true. Both teams struggled to run the ball, accounting for only 65 yards on 45 attempts. Nick Chubb and Sony Michel only had one play each but it was still a bit concerning.
The Quarterbacks played a big role. Jacob Eason threw for over 300 yards but had a bad interception. He also had an under 50% completion percentage which was disappointing. Jake Fromm was more consistent with his accuracy but he also seemed to have an easier game plan. He went 14-23 and 277 yards although his final line was boosted by a big catch and run 70 yard touchdown by Tyler Simmons.
Speaking of Simmons, he had a great day and looked impressive. So did several of the receivers and UGA looks much more explosive in that department then it did in 2016. At the end of the day, Fromm led the Red team down the field and Rodrigo Blankenship kicked the game winner with 1.03 to go. The game finished 25-22.
