Georgia Football: Which position group impressed the most?
3. Defensive Line
What was that Kirby Smart said about the offensive line moving the defense around in practice? Didn’t seem to be happening on G-day. The Defensive line on both teams seemed to be having their way with the offensive linemen this spring game. The offense struggled to run the entire game and that was mainly due to the play of the defensive line.
Even with Trenton Thompson not playing this spring, the unit looked dominant. Nobody more so then Jonathan Ledbetter. The defensive end looked like a monster for much of the game and consistently pressured Jacob Eason. His versatility and ability to move around meant that he ended up beating almost all of UGA’s offensive linemen at one point. After recovering from some off the field problems, he looks poised to have a great 2017.
It wasn’t just Ledbetter though. Tyler Clark looked impressive and the line in general held up well. If Thompson can return healthy, there’s no reason that this unit cannot be the strength of the team this year. Just like Kirby Smart wants it to be.
