Why the dawgs need him on the defense:

There’s one caveat to Hardman staying on offense and its a big one. The dawgs really need some cornerbacks. And I mean REALLY need some. Lost in the fact that Hardman, J.J. Holloman and Tyler Simmons were carving up the second team defense at G-day, was the fact that they were going up against a secondary full of walk ons.

In fact, all of the corner backs the second team defense played last weekend were walk ons. That’s a problem. As in a serious problem. Because there’s absolutely no way the dawgs can survive a season in the SEC with no reserve corners who can step up if an injury happens. Now there are four corners joining from the 2017 signing class, but will they be able to fill in?

Eric Stokes is incredibly fast, but just as raw. Latavious Brini, William Poole III and Ameer Speed are all exciting, but can they play as freshmen? It’s a tough position for the dawgs to be in and it’s why this decision is a bit complicated. Smart is a defensive guy and he always wants that unit to be set first and foremost.
