What’s best for the player long term:

Lastly, this is something that fans might not think about but players and coaches sure do. Hardman signed with Georgia because the team had a plan to make him a corner. He’s an athletic freak, but he knows that players like him are much harder to find on defense and so his chance to make actual money playing football improves if he figures out how to play corner.

But there’s no doubt that despite his athletic ability, Hardman is still yet to break out on defense. He was still sitting behind Tyreke McGee, another Sophomore without Hardmans athletic gifts in the spring. If he can’t figure out how to play defense, then getting on the field in any way has to be the best use of him going forward.

I’m also not a big believer that just because Hardman players receiver this year, that he can’t continue to develop as a corner. As we saw last night with Jabrill Peppers that if a player can effect the game in multiple ways, he can still go high in the draft. While I’m excite to see Hardman on offense, I do hope that he’s able to maximize his pro potential going forward. This coaching staff should be good enough to do that and hopefully it happens.
