Georgia Bulldogs: Monday Morning Recap
UGA mens tennis team wins the SEC:
Next: UGA baseball swept again
Lets finish on a positive note shall we! After winning a share of the regular season SEC title a few weeks ago, UGA’s Mens Tennis team came through big last week. They went Knoxville and overcame the rest of the SEC to win the SEC Tournament. The defeated Mississippi State in the final to sit on top of the SEC pile for another year.
It was a close final matchup, with Georgia taking the title after winning 4-3. Emil Reinberg came back from 5-2 down to win his matchup in a tie breaker and give Georgia the title. After going 3-0 in singles matches, Reinberg was named the tournaments MVP.
It’s another big win for a program that has been consistently dominant. This is the teams 28th title in 29 seasons under coach Manny Diaz. Reinberg told Chip Towers of Dawgnation.com:
"“At Georgia, it is all about the team and not the individual. We just play for each other and that was obvious this weekend. I am always bound to go three sets but I really wanted to keep it in that second set, and I was able to do that. Again, it’s not about me, its about this team, and I am so fortunate to be a part of this program.”"
Georgia won despite playing two freshmen and three sophomores in the tournament. They also started no seniors, indicating that the future remains bright for this particular team.
