3. 2004

Four players drafted, one in the first round

As far as quantity goes, this is the smallest drafts on this countdown. But considering how much quality was packed into the small class, 2004 definetely belongs on this list.

The players drafted in this group include:

Ben Watson-New England Patriots

Sean Jones-Cleveland Browns

Robert Geathers-Cincinnati Bengals

Bruce Thornton-Dallas Cowboys

NFL Careers

Watson, Jones and Geathers all had solid careers that lasted into the next decade. Watson is still playing in the NFL although he missed all of 2016 with a torn ACL. In his first 12 season, he’s caught 434 passes for 4,963 yards with 38 touchdowns.

For Jones, it took a couple of years, but in his third season with Cleveland he became the starting safety and remained their top guy at the position for three years. he ended his eight year career with the Browns, Eagles and Buccaneers with 35 interceptions and 513 tackles.

Geathers spent all 11 years of his NFL career with the Bengals. He had 34 sacks, 325 tackles and six forced fumbles.

Even Thornton showed potential after returning from a torn ACL in his rookie year. He started 11 games with the 49ers in his second year and even managed to shut down Marvin Harrison.
