Georgia Baseball stuns #4 Kentucky

What a weekend for the Georgia Baseball team. They traveled to Lexington and shocked the #4 Kentucky Wildcats in 2 of 3 games. Let’s dive into these games and see how it was done!

Game 1

The Dawgs took advantage of some mistakes by the Kentucky defense to score 4 runs in the 9th inning to win 5-3.

Logan Salow would unfortunately get a tough loss for the Wildcats. He gave up 4 unearned runs in the loss. Tristan Pompey went 2-5 for Kentucky.

Zac Kristofak got the win for Georgia. He threw 1.1 innings giving up a hit and a run. Tucker Bradley went 3-4 with a run scored in the win.

Game 2

Georgia almost had another late game rally but Kentucky hell them off to win 7-4.

Zach Logue received the win on the mound for the Wildcats. He threw 6.2 innings, gave up 4 runs, and struck out 11. Troy Squires went 2-4 with 2 doubles and 4 RBI. Riley Mahan added a solo homerun.

Chase Adkins took the loss for the Dawgs. He threw 5 innings, gave up 8 hits, and 6 runs. Tucker Maxwell went 1-4 with 3 RBIs.

Game 3

This was a wild one! Georgia went into the 8th trailing 2-1. They exited the 8th with a 6-2 lead thanks to a Mitch Webb grandslam. Georgia pulled it out 6-3 to take the series.

Logan Salow once again took a loss in the series for Kentucky. He only pitched 0.1 innings, giving up 4 hits and 5 runs. Riley Mahan went 1-4 with a homerun.

Kevin Smith had an excellent game on the mound for UGA. He threw 7 innings, gave up 2 runs, and struck out 6. LJ Talley went 2-4 with a homerun and Mitch Webb went 1-4 with a grand slam.

Up Next 

Tuesday, Georgia and Georgia Tech will face off at SunTrust Park. The weekend series will be a battle of the bulldogs as Georgia will host Mississippi State in Athens.
