Nick Chubb returned to the field in 2016 after an absolutely horrific injury in the 2015 game against Tennessee in Knoxville. His first game back was against the North Carolina Tar Heels and he did not disappoint.  He steamrolled their suspect run defense for 222 yards and had many people thinking he was back to his 2014 form. The Georgia Football team had its star back again.

I wasn’t one of those people.  From the first run I seen him pop off, I noticed he didn’t look the same. He didn’t have the same burst and power hitting the holes. And while he still rushed for over 1000 yards last season, he only had 4 other 100+ yard games. I think it’s pretty safe to say that Chubb was never at 100%.  So what are we going to see out of number 27 in 2017?

He’s going to be back this season. He’s going to be back at 100% . Finally,  he’s going to back with experience, 2014 Chubb power, and 2014 Chubb speed. Coach Kirby Smart himself has  talked about being impressed with what he’s seen out of Chubb this spring. I’ve seen a lot of people speculate that the main reason  Chubb and Michel both returned for their senior season was to improve their NFL draft status. I tend to disagree. See video below….

It’s revenge time.

I was there. I seen the enemy tearing up our beloved hedges after winning what would have been Chubb’s final game in Sanford Stadium. Tech had a lot to do with him coming back. Their show of blatant disrespect , combined with an 8-5 season that wasn’t up to his standards…up to Georgia standards…helped him make what had to be a difficult decision. He obviously felt there was something special going to happen for the Dawgs in 2017 as well. His return tells me that he truly believes that this can be a special season for UGA.

So the rest of the SEC is going to be dealing with a fully healthy Nick Chubb. A young man on a mission who will be running behind a better offensive line than 2016’s. Look for another big year . A 2014 kind of a year. I’m glad I’m a Dawg fan who gets to sit in the stands and watch and not one of the Tech defensive players who caught Chubb’s eye as they tore apart the hedges.

I think he took that personally…
