Worst Case: 5-7 overall, 3-5 SEC

Georgia’s defense will be great, there is no denying that. The Bulldogs will be difficult to score on in 2017 and every game should be reasonably close. But the questions are on offense, can the offensive line lead the way for an improved offense?

In this scenario that answer is no. Nick Chubb and Sony Michel again struggle to find holes behind a line that can’t open them up. Jacob Eason runs for his life while the receivers struggle to create separation.

September

Georgia opens the season with a win over Appalachian State. I’m not taking the Mountaineers lightly, I know what they’re capable of. But so does everyone. Appalachian State is no longer in a position where they can sneak up on power-5 opponents. But the game is kept close since Georgia struggles to score.

Georgia then travels to South Bend and gets overwhelmed by the environment. Georgia’s offensive issues are compounded in this game.

The Bulldogs return home to squash Samford before a close win over Mississippi State to end the year 2-0 against teams with the nickname Bulldogs.

Georgia ends the month with a third-straight loss to Tennessee. There fans see just how low the season can get.

October

The season gets lower after a second-straight loss against Vanderbilt, something that hasn’t happened since they lost three-straight from 1956-to-1958.

Georgia dos manage to pick up another close win over Missouri which does help that game develop into more of a rivalry since the 2014 game was the only non-competitive game.

After an off week, Georgia travels to Florida where they suffer a devastating loss to the Gators in a low scoring defensive battle where Florida slightly outscores Georgia.

November

A pair of losses to Auburn and South Carolina threaten Georgia’s chance of becoming eligible for a bowl game. South Carolina beats Georgia in another low scoring battle, while Auburn scores the most points of the year on Georgia with their faster offense creates more big plays.

The Bulldogs keep their bowl hopes alive with another close win over Kentucky, but the season hits rock bottom with a second-straight loss to Georgia Tech, something else that hasn’t happened in a decade.

Georgia ends the year 5-7 and misses out on a bowl game for the first time since 1996. In this scenario, the 2017 season becomes a season of firsts in a really bad way.
