How are Georgia Football and Star Wars related? Mike Stowe has a few ideas he’d like to share with you…

For a decade now, Georgia Football has been a footnote for one particular reason. The Alabama Crimson Tide have dominated college football. They have won 5 SEC titles along the way and absolutely owned the conference. Four national championships. An appearance in the College Football Playoffs every season since it’s inception. Bama’s players have been the ones who have been playing the role of the storm troopers and winning the battles on the field.
But the main reason for their dominance sits in his office in Tuscaloosa constantly plotting his next conquest. I imagine him sitting in his Crimson throne diabolically stroking a cat while eating an oatmeal cream pie. I speak, of course, of the evil Emperor Nick Saban.
Yes, our orange neighbors from over near the Jockey Lot did find a flaw in the Bama Death Star. What Clemson done was impressive. They struck a pretty big blow to the Tide last season when they beat them for the national championship with a pass in the last moments of the game from Georgia native Deshaun Watson to Hunter Renfrow. But the Empire still stands. Make no mistake about it , folks. In Saban’s mind, Bama isn’t done until he says they’re done.
So what now?
Is there hope within the SEC? I say yes. It’s unfolding before our very own eyes here in Athens. A young apprentice (Kirby Smart) leaves the evil Empire and comes to Georgia with intentions of destroying it. Think of Finn from “The Force Awakens”. And it can happen, Dawg fans. Kirby can be the one.
He’s already shown he can go head to head with the Emperor in recruiting and in some cases win. His first full signing class in 2017 was ranked in the top 3 and was one of the most stacked in UGA history. The firepower is here. The support is here. While others like Ohio State and Clemson can halt what Bama is doing by occasionally beating them in the college football playoffs, they’re not stopping it. If the Crimson Tide dynasty is to truly be stopped, it must be done from within the SEC. It must be done by someone who learned from the evil Emperor……by someone who knows how he thinks and how he operates.
Now is the time for Kirby Smart to lift up his red and black light saber and bring the success of the early 2000s and the dominance of the early 80s back to the University of Georgia. It can start this year with an SEC East title in what is going to be a fairly weak division.

Beat every SEC East opponent and this will set up the battle in Atlanta. Kirby vs. his former mentor. Teacher vs. pupil. Good vs. evil. Tide vs. the Dawgs. It’s time to restore balance to the SEC Force. Help us , Kirby Wan-Kenobi…….you’re our only hope.
