6. Texas Longhorns

What time is it in Texas? Well depending on where you’re at and when you’re reading this, it could be any time. But if you’re a Georgia fan, it’ll always be 10-to-9. That was the saying after the 1984 Cotton Bowl when a muffed punt and a short run by John Lastinger led the Bulldogs to a 10-9 win over the Texas Longhorns.

But Georgia and Texas have actually met on four occasions with the Longhorns winning the first three.

Despite having less modern national championships than Miami, Texas is two spots ahead of them because Texas is a team that has always been a premier program in college football. While Miami didn’t become relevant until the early 1980’s.

The history of the Texas Longhorns made Georgia’s win over them in the 1984 Cotton Bowl one of the biggest in program history.
