5. Most passing yards by a sophomore

To accomplish this record, Jacob Eason is going to need to take some big strides in the off season. But I believe he has the talent and skills to break Aaron Murray’s school sophomore record with 3,149 passing yards.

Jacob Eason had one of the best true freshman seasons in Georgia football history with 2,430 yards. That’s good enough for fourth in school history for a freshman. However, the three players ahead of him include two redshirt freshmen (Aaron Murray and David Greene) and a player who played baseball before coming to Georgia (Quincy Carter).

Eason only needs to pass for a little over 700 more yards in 2017 to break Murray’s record so it’s very likely that Jacob Eason could have a set his first school season record this year.

That is if the receiving corps develops and gives him the support he needs. In 2011, Murray had Malcolm Mitchell, Tavarress King, Marlon Brown, Chris Conely, Michael Bennett and Orson Charles. The group of receivers that Georgia had from 2011-to-2014 were by far the best in school history.

The 2017 group might be as talented but they’ll also be very young besides seniors Javon Wims and Jeb Blazevich and junior Terry Godwin. Everyone else will be a freshman or sophomore.

But if those guys get open and on the same page with Eason, than we’ll see a new leader in passing yards by a sophomore in Georgia football history.
